3-4 Wharton Street is a Grade II listed building which involves a striking ornate period structure assembled during the Victorian era. Most famously ‘The City Glassworks’ this 5-level construction is built from yellow brick with widespread bathstone decorative elements including window entablatures, pilasters and architraves.

The new proposal for 3-4 Wharton Street is an interlinked bar, workshop, and hotel. A collaboration with the Gower Gin Company creating a modern, comfortable setting that captures the structure’s heritage and considers the surroundings. The elements of the building work in combination to provide an interactive and entertaining experience along with a restful constituent. The quirky and bright interiors peak interest and stimulate involvement within the space. Whilst subtly referencing the glassworks through the use of materials and the restoration of remaining physical features, these bright colours juxtapose the original features drawing attention to them. The project will play on both the need for more of these facilities in Cardiff, and the rise in the popularity of gin, as it becomes both advantageous and striking.

3-4 Wharton Street is significantly situated on the junction with Bakers Row in Cardiff City Centre, Wales.
Only 4 miles south of the M4 motorway and located close to Cardiff Central train station, as well as having Cardiff airport nearby, Wharton Street has an array of connectivity so it would be easy for people to travel and experience this concept.
